Using Strap Wrench to keep engine from turning, removecrankshaft pulley bolt and pulley. Remove lower timing belt coverbolts. Lower vehicle. Remove two engine intake air resonator nutsand bolt, loosen hose clamp from inlet tube, disconnect sensor, andremove intake air resonator. Remove two screws retaining coolantreservoir to fender and one screw at hose from inner fender.Position reservoir bottle aside. Position floor jack under oil panand raise it to release pressure from front insulator. NOTE: Make areference mark for installation reference. Remove six nutsretaining front engine support bracket to insulator and removebracket. Remove three front insulator bolts and insulator. Removepower steering reservoir line nut and two bolts retaining pump lineat engine lifting eye and steering pump bracket. Disconnectignition wires from spark plugs and position them aside. Remove 8mmupper timing belt cover bolts and cover. Remove 10mm valve coverbolts. Remove valve cover and discard gasket. Remove idler pulleyassembly. Remove water pump pulley bolts and pulley. Removecamshaft timing belt center cover bolts, center cover, and lowercover. Turn the engine to top dead center. Using Camshaft AlignmentTool and Camshaft Sprocket Holding Tool , align the camshafts byinstalling tool into slots on rear of camshafts. Remove timing belttensioner bolt, tensioner, and belt. Installation Loosely installtiming belt tensioner, bolt, and belt. Adjust belt tension. Tightenbolts to 35-40 Nm (26-30 lb-ft). Position lower timing belt cover.Install center cover and bolts. Tighten bolts to 6-8 Nm (53-71lb-in). Position water pump pulley, securely install the bolts.Install idler pulley assembly. Tighten to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft). Removecamshaft alignment tool. Using a new gasket, position valve coverand install bolts. Tighten the bolts in two steps. Connect thespark plug wires. Tighten all bolts to 2 Nm (18 lb-in). Tighten to6-8 Nm (53-71 lb-in). Position upper timing belt cover and installbolts. Tighten bolts to 3-5 Nm (27-44 lb-in). Position the frontinsulator and power steering hose bracket. Install three bolts to70-95 Nm (52-70 lb-ft). Position front engine support bracket andinstall six new nuts. Tighten the nuts to 70-95 Nm (52-70 lb-ft).Lower and remove floor jack. Position coolant reservoir. Securelyinstall two reservoir screws and one coolant hose clamp screw toinner fender. Install power steering reservoir line nut and twobolts retaining pump line at engine lifting eye and steering pumpbracket. Tighten the retainers to 6 Nm (53 lb-in). Position engineintake air resonator. Install one bolt and two nuts. Connect sensorand securely tighten hose clamp to inlet tube. Raise vehicle onhoist. Install lower timing belt cover bolts. Tighten bolts to 6-8Nm (53-71 lb-in). Using Strap Wrench to keep engine from turning,install crankshaft pulley and bolt. Tighten bolt to 110-120 Nm(81-89 lb-ft). Position serpentine belt into place, rotate drivebelt tensioner clockwise, and install belt to remaining pulleys.Position crankshaft pulley shield and securely install screws.Install right front wheel assembly. Tighten wheel nuts to 85 Nm(62-lb-ft). Lower vehicle. Connect battery negative cable. Checkoperation of the engine.
